It’s a wonderful time of year in the Autumn when it starts to get chilly outside and there is a lovely warm smell of fruit and spice in the kitchen! This is when we start to soak the apricots, raisins, currents, dates, sultanas, prunes and cherries in freshly squeezed lemon and orange juice and plenty of brandy, get your order in by mid October for the best tasting Christmas Cake and cook gently to produce our rich fruit cakes for Christmas.

The cakes need at least eight weeks to mature to the best flavour. So get your order in by mid October for the best tasting Christmas Cake. They are then covered with natural colour marzipan and iced in either sugar paste (fondant icing) or the traditional royal icing. They are either decorated with traditional scenes, seasonal sugar flowers or festive motifs such as snowflakes and stars.
